Tend to Your Own Garden: How Planting with Purpose Restored My Wellness

A GreenStalk Planter helped me do just that.

When Healing Took Root

I’ve spent years helping others restore their health—reading lab results, crafting herbal blends, and building wellness plans. As a certified herbalist and founder of Global Health Treasures, I knew the rhythms of healing. But somewhere along the way, I stopped tending my garden.

I had the tools. But I was running on empty—spiritually, physically, emotionally.

It took a simple decision—planting with purpose—to change that. And it turns out, the right tools matter too.

A GreenStalk Vertical Planter helped me do just that: nurture my healing one tier, one seed, one season at a time.

“They made me keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept.” — Song of Songs 1:6

That verse pierced me. It put words to something I had felt for a long time: I was helping everyone else grow while my garden sat thirsty and unattended.

That’s when I knew: it was time to plant with intention. Not just for food. Not for content. But for wellness.

That moment became a seed —and it sprouted my PureVine Healing Garden: a real, restorative practice rooted in healing.

A space where I could abide in the True Vine, care for my body, and remember that tending to others begins with tending to myself.

With the right tools in hand—including the GreenStalk Vertical Planter—I started nurturing what I had long set aside: my vineyard.

I Planted What I Needed

This isn’t just a guide—it’s my growing journal. A glimpse into what I planted, what I harvested, and what each tier has taught me along the way. I didn’t follow a fancy gardening guide. I followed my wellness goals.

Mint got her corner at the top — partly because she likes to stretch out, and partly because I needed a little reminder to breathe deep and stay cool in more ways than one.

Every plant was chosen to nourish. Some were starter plants. Some I grew from seed.

It’s not just about what grows outwardly — it’s about what is cultivated within. Because what grows in you is just as important as what grows around you.

What You’re Rooted In Changes Everything

I was excited to grow with intention. But in my eagerness, I bought a cheap vertical container — shallow grow pockets, poor drainage — and I didn’t do much research beforehand.

It didn’t take long to realize: not much would grow. Even though I chose plants with care, the container couldn’t support what they needed. The shallow pockets restricted the roots. The poor drainage left the soil heavy and waterlogged. No matter how much heart I poured into it, the foundation wasn’t strong enough to sustain the growth I hoped for.

Looking back, it made sense. I had planted with haste—and in a way, I reaped exactly what I sowed.

When I switched to a GreenStalk Vertical Planter, the difference was immediate. It came with clear guidance — showing how to match deep-rooted vegetables to the bottom tiers, lighter herbs and greens near the top. The design honored the natural needs of each plant, allowing roots to stretch, water to flow, and harvests to multiply.

That mistake bore fruit, too, teaching me:

You can’t grow deep roots in shallow soil. What something is rooted in will always shape how it grows — and what it produces.

No More Shallow Soil

This time, I’m deeply rooted—with 10-inch grow pockets that support real nourishment and a renewed connection to the True Vine that sustains it all.

Gone are the days of trying to grow something meaningful in shallow systems—whether in planters or in life. I’ve learned that depth matters. That structure matters. That the right conditions produce not just more — but better.

And that’s precisely what this garden is already doing.

Even my 82-year-old mother caught the vision. She’s fiercely independent—can still walk 20,000 steps in a day—and after watching me thrive with my GreenStalk, she wanted one of her own. Now she’s got her healing garden blooming on her front porch.
